Irish Gaelic genealogies are the oldest in Europe.  Some Irish Gaelic genealogies go back to before the Fall of Rome.  Some from that period have already been confirmed by modern DNA research.

Genealogy is part of Ireland's ancient Seanchas tradition.  Until the 17th century, Seanchas consisted of Féineachas ('Brehon Law'), history, and genealogy.

The purpose of this workshop is to teach you how to use Ireland's ancient Seanchas tradition to identify, to the extent possible, your chosen Irish Gaelic family’s ancient law, history, and genealogy.  These classes (16 hours in total) will consist of a combination of lecture, discussion, and in-class guided research.
