Carole Neidich RyderCongratulations to Molloy alumna Carole Neidich-Ryder, a biology graduate of the class of 1972, who was presented with an Operational Auxiliarist (AUXOP) device and certificate by U.S. Coast Guard's Warrant Officer Phillips and Chief Hines at a recent Change-of-Watch ceremony. The AUXOP, or "Operational Auxiliarist" Program is an advanced training program available to members of the Coast Guard Auxiliary who wish to increase their practical relevance to Coast Guard missions, and better assist the Coast Guard to fulfill needed skill sets.
In order to qualify as an Operational Auxiliarist, the member must successfully obtain a minimum of seven (7) credits from three categories of courses. Each of the courses requires a proctored, closed-book final examination with a minimum passing grade of 75%.
In addition to her designation as an Operational Auxiliarist, Carole is also qualified as Auxiliary Boat Crew and Food Service Specialist. She prepares lunch and dinner for the U.S. Coast Guard at Station Jones Beach on Mondays and cooks for special occasions and holidays. She was also recently awarded a Coast Guard Sustained Auxiliary Service Award for 1510 hours in support of Active Duty Coast Guard units. Thank you, Carole, for your service to the US Coast Guard Auxiliary, whose overarching mission is to contribute to the safety and security of our citizens, ports, waterways and coastal regions.
